Joe's Corner
This is my corner where I can share my words of wisdom,
observations and encouragement with the members of Centrex Sports Club.
From time to time, I'll provide new material. Feel
free to send me email and give me any feedback.
Winter 2010
Sorry
for the delay. It has been about 9 months since I have sat down
to write a, “Joe’s Corner”. Obviously, I have been a little busy,
but, it is time to reflect on those last 9 months, consider where I am
today and make a strong move forward.
The last year was such an eye opener for me. I have lived my
whole business life (17 years) dedicated to the Health & Fitness
business - Full Time. As an owner, I thought I had learned some
lessons and even had a formula for success, however, 2009 taught me
many new things.
The most important lesson I learned is that many people only care about
themselves and love to knock others down (to make themselves feel
better). My wife has been telling me this for years but, I have
always argued for the “good in people”. Finally, I
succumbed! This year I was faced with people talking behind my
back, false accusations, lies, rumors and negativity. The worst
of it all; it came from people who said they were my friends.
Long time members of Centrex turned their back on me because they
wanted to believe the worst. Associates thought they didn’t need
me and could steal my business and people I thought were my friends
tried to take advantage and steal from me. It hurt…., BAD!
But, ….as always, I’m still standing. I have been forced to take
a hard look at myself and I am glad to report that you can say whatever
makes you feel good! Go ahead; talk about me some more if that
makes your day full. I am not going to apologize for your bad
behavior anymore. I have learned my lesson. Many PEOPLE
ONLY CARE ABOUT THEMSELVES – so, no more Mr. Nice Joe!
You may ask, “what does that have to do with the gym
I belong to?”. Well, it has a lot to do with Centrex.
Centrex is not a place where people just come to workout and
leave. Centrex is, and always has been, an extension of me –
Joseph AmecAngelo. I have spent the last 17 years, giving 100% of
myself and assisting people with their Health & Fitness
Goals. The “Gym” (conceptually) is a place that defines me and my
character. It was a salvation for me as a kid and a balance for
me as an adult. It has given me more than I could ever give back
and I thought my place was to continually let people in, teach,
educate, get involved and be a role model. I have found that I
may be wrong!
This coming year, Centrex will become more of what the people want and
less about me! Centrex is on a new plane. We are stronger,
bigger, better and moving forward like never before. Of course,
we feel the economy like everyone else – we are not recession
proof. My experience has taught me that good people will always
be there for me – no matter what! Those who leave your life
(after you have done so much for them) cannot be saved by their
“stories” and “justifications”. I will keep working hard for the
members who want an excellent club and a great place to workout!
I may not be out front taking the shots to the head like I used to but,
I will not allow Centrex to be adequate, standard or just good.
Our new Café is Open January 30th. Our New Spa opens
February 1st. Our New building is complete – new signage – new
windows – NEW NEW NEW! Come take one of our Extreme Challenge
Classes and train like never before, come try the Centrex 12 Week
Challenge and get in the shape of your life. Experience one of
our 40+ classes per week from Spinning to Yoga & Kick boxing to
Silver Sneakers! Come relax and enjoy our sauna, kick back and
get a massage – Centrex is not a low budget gym – it is club!
I am proud of what Centrex has become and I make no excuses for its
offerings. I am also proud of my 17 years of dedication to the
people who have chosen to trust me and Centrex Sports Club. I
will not let you down. I am dedicated, energized and determined
like never before.
